The producer of South Korea's longest-running theatre show has been selected as executive creative director for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
Olympic organizers said Thursday they've hired former theatre and television actor Song Seung-whan to produce the ceremonies.
Song is best known for his creation of the theatre show "Nanta," which tells the story of four chefs trying to make a wedding banquet in one hour. The show has no dialogue, just the rhythmic beating of kitchen utensils like knives, kettles, pots and pans.
It's been seen by 10 million people worldwide and won an award for best performance at the 1999 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Song said in a statement he will devote his "best efforts to orchestrate exciting and memorable ceremonies" for the 2018 Winter Games.
