Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss on Friday and sent India in to bat in the series-deciding third test at the Sinhalese Sports Club.

Sri Lanka has replaced retired Kumar Sangakkara with left-hander Upul Tharanga and given a maiden test cap to hard-hitting Kusal Perera, while leaving out Jehan Mubarak who did not meet expectations in the second test which Sri Lanka lost by 278 runs.

Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep, who missed the second test through injury, returns to replace Dushmantha Chameera.

India brought in Cheteshwar Pujara to replace opener Murali Vijay, and wicketkeeper Naman Ojha makes his debut in place of Wriddhiman Saha. Both Vijay and Saha are injured.
