Tonga prop Tevita Mailau will miss the team's final pool matches against Argentina and New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup after being suspended for two weeks for a dangerous tackle.

Mailau was handed the ban following a hearing in London on Friday, after he was cited for a high tackle on Namibia backup hooker Louis van der Westhuizen near the end of the 35-21 win on Tuesday.

He is free to resume playing on Oct. 10, meaning he would be available for the knockout phase if Tonga qualifies from Pool C. The Tongans are second in the pool after two matches but still have their hardest two matches to come.

Mailau started against Georgia in Tonga's opening game, and was a reserve against Namibia. He can appeal against the ban within 48 hours.
