JaQuail Townser scored 17 points, Andre Statam added 16 and Jacksonville State beat Oakwood University 96-60 on Monday night.

Christian Cunningham and Jared Hamilton scored 12 apiece for the Gamecocks (2-1), who outrebounded their United States Collegiate Athletic Association opponent 46-38.

Malcom Drumwright added 11 points with nine of the 24 assists Jacksonville State used in making 39 of 76 field goals (51 per cent).

Townser, who shot 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, opened the game with a 3-pointer and ended the first half with a turnaround jumper in the closing seconds for a 53-32 halftime lead.

Cunningham scored two dunks in the first four and a half minutes and the Gamecocks scored 54 points in the paint and 14 points off of seven Ambassadors turnovers.

Ronnie Abrams led Oakwood (4-7) with 13 points and Ollie Felps added 12.
