The Utah Jazz have selected Canadian Olivier Hanlan with the No. 42 pick of the NBA draft. The team used its first second-round pick on the 6-foot-4, 186-pound guard from Boston College after taking Saskatoon-born forward Trey Lyles with the No. 12 overall pick.

Hanlan, of Aylmer, Que., averaged 19.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists as a junior and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in points per game.

The Jazz finished the season with a 38-44 record, a 13-game improvement from the 2013-14 season. The team went into the off-season needing shooting after averaging the fifth-fewest points per game last season. Frontcourt depth became a priority after the team moved Enes Kanter to the Thunder at the deadline.

The Jazz have the No. 54 overall pick remaining.
