Italy's Roberta Vinci beat Russian qualifier Alexandra Panova 7-6 (3), 6-3 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Istanbul Cup.

Vinci next plays Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia, who only needed 50 minutes to cruise past wild card entrant Ipek Soylu of Turkey 6-0, 6-0.

In the day's other second round matches, Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia and Urszula Radwanska of Poland beat Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 6-3, 6-2.

Germany's Mona Barthel defeated Ukrainian qualifier Olga Savchuk 6-3, 7-5 in a first round match.
