The West Indies were 154-6, with Darren Bravo 46 not out, when rain prematurely ended the first day of their tour match against a Cricket Australia XI on Wednesday.

Showers forced players off the field 30 minutes into the final session, and play was called off for the day two hours later.

After winning the toss, West Indies captain Jason Holder scored 26 while James Bazley took 2-27 for an Australian side which featured six players making their first-class debut.

The West Indies rested fast bowler Jerome Taylor, but included a batting lineup expected to feature in the first test against Australia beginning Dec. 10 in Hobart.

The Caribbean side will play also play tests in Melbourne beginning Dec. 26 and in Sydney from Jan. 3.
