The Washington Wizards have announced the signing of free agent guard Gary Neal on Thursday.

Neal, 30, averaged 10.1 points in 54 games last season with Charlotte and Minnesota. He is a 38.1 per cent shooter from 3-point range in his career.

The Baltimore native is one of Washington's veteran off-season acquisitions following Paul Pierce's departure to the Los Angeles Clippers.

"You just have to move on. You can't dwell on it," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "You have to be ready to move on with the next step and I think we've done a good job with that."

Wittman also confirmed that All-Star guard John Wall's fractured wrist suffered in May during the playoffs against Atlanta did not require surgery.
