Police in Austria say five people were killed when their car was hit by a train at a railroad crossing.
The crash happened late Friday in Gaisberg, about 80 kilometres (50 miles) west of Vienna.
Police said in a statement Saturday that the 26-year-old driver failed to stop at an unsecured railroad crossing despite an approaching train.
The car driver, a 32-year-old woman and three children were killed. Three other children were seriously injured and taken to hospitals.
No injuries were reported on the train.
