Argentine Cabinet chief Anibal Fernandez is rejecting a media report implicating him as the mastermind behind the murder of three men allegedly connected to an ephedrine trafficking ring.
Fernandez told reporters on Monday that the "Periodismo para Todos" report aired over the weekend was politically motivated and aimed at disrupting primary elections on Sunday.
In the Channel 13 report, one of the men convicted in the 2008 killings said the hit was ordered by Fernandez via an intermediary.
For years, Fernandez has been a top official in the administration of President Cristina Fernandez and is running for governor of Buenos Aires province.
The Fernandez administration has long been at odds with Grupo Clarin, one of the largest media conglomerates in Latin America. Channel 13 is part of Grupo Clarin.
