The Cayman Islands is reporting its first case of a pregnant woman infected with Zika.

The government says it has a total of 26 confirmed cases of the mosquito-borne virus, including 17 contracted locally. Officials said Wednesday that the cases have been reported in the capital of George Town.

The British Caribbean territory reported its first local Zika transmission in August.

The virus can cause severe birth defects among pregnant women.
