Ending his mission in Poland, U.S. Ambassador Stephen Mull has flown as a passenger on a Polish air force F-16 fighter jet.
"I survived. It was a fantastic experience," Mull said in Polish Wednesday after flying at speeds reaching 900 kph (560 mph) in a U.S.-made aircraft from the Krzesiny base in central Poland.
"Every boy has such a dream, and so did I. It came true," he said.
He later said that Polish-U.S. co-operation within the F-16 program is a great asset for Poland's security.
Mull returns to Washington on Aug. 29. He will be succeeded in Poland by Paul W. Jones.
