A federal judge in Mexico has decided that a former governor of the central state of Aguascalientes will stand trial on financial fraud charges.

Former Gov. Luis Armando Reynoso Femat is accused of not filing a tax return in 2009 while he was in office. Reynoso was arrested last week in Leon, Guanajuato state, but released on bond to await trial. Judicial authorities announced the decision Wednesday.

He served as governor of Aguascalientes between 2004 and 2010.
