A French zookeeper says there's still no sign of 17 rare monkeys believed stolen from their enclosure last weekend and she fears for their lives.
Delphine Delord told The Associated Press Wednesday that the monkeys — seven golden lion tamarins and 10 silvery marmosets — disappeared "without a trace" four days ago and investigators have no leads.
"It's very horrible. These monkeys have to live together or they will die," said Delord, an official at the ZooParc de Beauval, a zoo in Saint Aignan sur Cher, 220 km (137 miles) south of Paris.
An online campaign to spread word of the missing monkeys is using the Twitter hashtag #rendezlessinges (Bring back the monkeys).
