Arianespace has launched a rocket from the South American country of French Guiana carrying commercial and military satellites for European operators.

The commercial arm of the European Space Agency says one of the satellites will provide telecommunications links for French and Italian military forces.

The other one will be operated by Telenor Satellite Broadcasting, a provider of European broadcast and data communications services.

The Sunday evening launch is the third one so far this year from the company's facility in French Guiana.

Arianespace has 21 shareholders from 10 European countries, including the CNES space agency in France.
