Authorities in Haiti say three men on a motorcycle have shot and killed a former national police director and a retired Boston police officer, and they say robbery could be a motive.
Police spokesman Frantz Lerebours said Friday that money was apparently stolen from either Jean Nesly Lucien or Yves Dambreville. They were attacked Wednesday in the Tabarre district of Port-au-Prince.
Lerebours said he had no further details.
Lucien was a former police director who pleaded guilty in 2005 to money laundering in a cocaine smuggling operation. Dambreville was a U.S. citizen of Haitian origin who was a 33-year veteran of Boston's police department.
Dambreville's wife told the Boston Herald her husband was in Haiti to train police and build a retirement home.
