A Jamaican police officer has been arrested on criminal charges alleging he recklessly shot a gun at a party.
An agency responsible for investigating abuse allegations against Jamaican security forces on Monday identified the accused constable as Wrenick Lawrence. He is based in Mandeville, a city in central Jamaica.
The Independent Commission of Investigations says Lawrence allegedly got into an altercation with partygoers on the afternoon of April 18.
Police say Lawrence was attacked but witnesses allege he was the aggressor. They say Lawrence pulled out his firearm during a dispute and fired several shots, hitting two people who were not involved in the argument.
It was not immediately clear if the officer fired his service weapon.
Lawrence was granted roughly $4,500 bail and ordered to surrender his passport.
