The defence has opened its case in the trial of a suspended North Carolina police officer with a cast of his colleagues, more of whom are expected to testify Wednesday.
The jury will hear more evidence in Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Randall Kerrick's case. Kerrick, who is white, is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death in September 2013 of Jonathan Ferrell, who was black.
A Western Carolina University professor of psychology was the first defence witness to testify Tuesday.
David McCord testified about a series of psychological tests that Kerrick took prior to becoming a police officer. McCord said Kerrick's aggregate score exceeded 70 per cent of those who took the test.
Two police officers and two of Kerrick's supervisors during his time in animal control also testified Tuesday.
