A court in Bosnia has sentenced 17 members of an organized crime group to 101 years in jail combined for a series of murders and robberies worth over 5 million euro.
Prosecutors said in a statement issued Wednesday they were satisfied with the outcome of the "most extensive" organized crime case ever processed in the western Balkans. The defendants from Bosnia and Serbia included three police officers.
According to prosecutors, the group used uniforms, cars and masks similar to ones used by police to rob banks and armoured cars moving money.
Its members also were convicted of six murders.
A total of 32 gang members were charged as part of the organized crime investigation conducted with prosecutors in Serbia, but many of the defendants were tried separately.
