Hurricane Andres is getting stronger as it spins far off the coast of Mexico.
The first named storm of the eastern Pacific hurricane season poses no threat to land.
Andres had maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 kph) Friday night. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says some additional strengthening is expected Saturday, but the storm should gradually weaken by Sunday.
Andres is centred 740 miles (1,195 kms) off the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, and is moving northwest at 7 mph (11 kph).
