Tropical Storm Danny is moving slowly westward, far out over the Atlantic, and could still become a hurricane.

Danny has top sustained winds of 50 mph (85 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm could strengthen in the next couple of days and possibly become a hurricane by Friday.

The storm is centred about 1,270 miles (2,040 kilometres) east of the Lesser Antilles and is moving northwest at 10 mph (17 kph).

The storm does not currently pose a threat to any land.
