The concours is honouring Jim Patterson and his son, also Jim, as collectors of the year. The cars they’ve brought to St. John’s include this Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A that emerged from RM Auto Restoration in Blenheim, Ont., last year to win best of show at Pebble Beach.

1920 Detroit Electric Brougham Model 82

Margaret Gray’s husband, Robert, manufactured Gray-Dort automobiles in Chatham, Ont., but she drove this Detroit Electric. Treasured by several collectors after leaving the Grays in 1952, RM partner Dan Warrener, brought it back to Chatham – where he resides in the restored Gray home.

1972 Porsche 911S

Estimate: $150,000-$200,000

Tom Irwin was 20 and crazy about Porsches when his dad, William Irwin, purchased the 911S for $13,500 – a demonstrator with 2,002 miles. At 50,000 miles, dad handed son the keys, and Tom Irwin has just kept driving and enjoying. With 90,275 miles on the odometer, the 911S was appraised at $212,890 (Cdn.) in April.

1938 Packard Twelve Coupe Roadster

Birkbeck bought the Coupe Roadster from a New York City doctor in 1993, knowing Victoria’s Blaine Worth had been lead restorer for Murray Gammon, a Packard collector who operated a car museum at Douglas and Humboldt in the 1970s. Worth completed his exacting restoration last fall.

While owned by Madrid’s Gran Hotel Velasquez, in the 1950s, the fenders, bumpers and dashing chrome moulding were inexplicably altered. RM Auto Restoration corrected these travesties and the de Villars Roadster was named best of show at Pebble Beach in 2010 and best of show, foreign, at St. John’s in 2012.

Estimate: $4,000-$6,000Instruction for two, over two days, in the latest C7 Corvettes, benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Fellows operates his academy of speed at Spring Mountain Motor Resort. Also on offer: New York Fashion Week and the Super Bowl in Houston.
