Optional laser headlights, about 30 per cent more efficient than the car’s standard LED headlights, are not legal in Canada. BMW says they are also more powerful, with a range of up to 600 metres.

BMW claims the car can achieve fuel consumption of below 5 litres/100 km in city driving, and under 8 litres/100 km at high speeds, or about half of a regular sports car.
