The four deals on convertibles here today are available with combined discounts of more than $30,000. That's a whack of cash for a small assortment of summertime rides.
But it makes sense in Canada. By July, the Canadian appetite for convertibles has been largely sated. Those still with the urge often come to the conclusion that there is no point in buying an open-air ride when the convertible season is half over.
But that's not quite true. The point is, you will certainly pocket savings if your fancy turns to a convertible like the Infiniti Q60 – nearly $13,000 in combined factory and dealer offers. The Q60 is a nice car, though several years from a major makeover. This in part explains the generous deals. The car is powerful, entertaining and capable of delivering fun, and it has seating for four.
Chevrolet's 2015 Camaro is also an older design; the all-new 2016 version was recently unveiled in Detroit. Thus, it's time to sweep out the old Camaro to make room for the new, a proven tactic is discounting. Here, the money in play is more than $7,000. The next Camaro is a big step up, but it won't be a bargain like the 2015 when it rolls into showrooms.
Jeep's Wrangler is a rugged softop and it's on offer with nearly $5,000 in discounts, while Audi's elegant A5 can be quite the bargain for the buyer willing to push for more than $6,000 is factory and dealer incentives.
We're in the heart and heat of summer, the time when car makers and their dealers start to sweat a little as they look at unsold convertibles on the lot. If you want an open-air car, this might be the best time to buy.
