The 10-stop Tesla Tour is coming to Toronto.
Dubbed the "Double Black Dual Motor Model S Tour", Elon Musk's cutting-edge car company is taking both the P85D and 85D Model S on a 10-city cross-continent trip.
The Toronto stop will be held at the Allstream Centre at Exhibition Place from Feb. 12-15, with Feb. 12 available only to the media. The event opens to the public for the following three days by appointment only. Walk-ins will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Go to teslamotors.com/models/drive to book a spot.
"We will have an enclosed track to demonstrate both the power of the P85D and the excellent cold-weather handling of the 85D," said Tesla spokesperson Jamee Hawn via e-mail. "Both are all-wheel drive Dual Motor, which will be an important addition to the Model S family for those in the snowy regions like Toronto."
The other cities on the tour are all in the United States: New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Dallas, Seattle and Miami.
The Model S is a premium electric vehicle sedan with a company-stated driving range of 426 kilometres; the Model S P85D can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in almost 3.2 seconds. The mode for accelerating that quickly is called 'Insane mode' and the video below shows why it is aptly named.
The Tesla Model S will also be featured at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto as part of its "Life is in Motion" exhibit. The auto show opens to the public at noon on Feb. 13.
