When we sat down to rebuild Globe Investor, one requirement was clear. Search was the single most important feature to get right. It needed to be powerful enough to crunch through thousands of stocks and funds and deliver relevant results -- fast.

At the same time, it had to be easy to use. So we added a suggest feature to cut through the complexity of ticker symbols. Start typing and you'll get a dropdown of the 10 most popular stocks or funds for those letters.

We placed the quote search box at the top, right-hand corner of every page on the web site. And then we tested it on focus groups, some official, and others friends and family. Everyone we could find, really.

Some people found it quickly. Others searched and searched for the search box. So we set about on some new designs.

Here are three different placements we're thinking about:

What do you think? Do you like the version we are using now? Do you like one of the other options? Have a better idea? Post a comment. This is something we really want to get right.
