North American stocks were little changed on Tuesday morning, with investors digesting a mixed bag of earnings reports and a disappointing reading on U.S. durable goods orders.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 6 points, to 10,544. The broader S&P 500 rose 1 point, to 1114. In Canada, the S&P/TSX composite index fell 19 points or 0.2 per cent, to 11,698.
Boeing Co. fell 1.1 per cent after the aeronautics company reported a drop in second quarter revenues that fell shy of expectations, despite topping expectations with its quarterly net earnings. Eastman Kodak Co. plunged 9.3 per cent after it reported a narrower loss in the second quarter, but missed expectations.
In Canada, Enbridge Inc. fell 1.2 per cent on reports of a pipeline leak that has spilled three million litres of oil into the Kalamazoo River.
Research In Motion Ltd. rose 2 per cent on speculation that the BlackBerry maker is going to release a touch-screen model with a slide-out keyboard. As well, Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. rose 0.5 per cent after it reported a 30 per cent jump in its quarterly earnings but warned that markets will remain volatile.
