Monday, March 28

European markets closed for a holiday.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. personal spending and personal income for February. The consensus estimate is for a rise of 0.1 per cent for both. In January, both rose 0.5 per cent.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. core PCE price index for February. Consensus is for a rise of 1.8 per cent from a year earlier, after rising 1.7 per cent in January.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. good trade deficit for February. It's estimated at $62.5-billion.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. pending home sales for February. The Street is expecting a rise of 1.1 per cent.

Earnings include: Cal-Maine Foods Inc.; Callidus Capital Corp.; Qihoo 360 Technology Co Ltd.

Tuesday, March 29

Japan releases February jobless rate, household spending and retail sales.

(830 a.m. ET) Canada reveals industrial production for February. It is forecast to decline 0.2 per cent. StatsCan will also release the raw materials index, forecast to decline 4.0 per cent.

(9 a.m. ET) U.S. S&P Case-Shiller Home Price index for January. Consensus is for a 5.8 per cent rise from a year earlier.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. Conference Board Consumer Confidence index. Consensus is for a reading of 93.5.

(1130 a.m. ET) Fed Chair Janet Yellen speaks at the Economic Club of New York.

Earnings include: EXFO Inc.; Imperial Metals Corp.; Lennar Corp.; McCormick & Company Inc.; Verint Systems Inc.

Wednesday, March 30

Japan releases industrial production for February.

Euro area releases economic confidence for March. Germany reveals its March consumer price index.

(815 a.m. ET) U.S. ADP private-sector national employment report. Consensus is for a gain of 195,000 jobs, which would be down from February's gain of 214,000.

(220 p.m. ET) Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Patterson speaks to the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce of the 2016 economic outlook.

Earnings include: China Gold International Resources Corp Ltd.; Claude Resources Inc.; Dollarama Inc.; Lululemon Athletica Inc.; Micron Technology Inc.; ProMetic Life Sciences Inc.; Torex Gold Resources Inc.

Thursday, March 31

Euro area consumer price index for March, plus Germany releases unemployment rate for March, France reveals its consumer price index and consumer spending numbers, and Italy reports its latest inflation numbers. The U.K. reveals a final reading on fourth-quarter GDP, as well as its latest consumer confidence data.

(830 a.m. ET) Canada real GDP report for January. The economy is expected to have grown 0.2 per cent.

(830 a.m ET) Canadian survey of employment, payrolls, and hours for January.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. initial jobless claims for last week.

(945 a.m. ET) Chicago PMI data. Consensus is for a reading of 50.5.

No major earnings reports expected.

Friday, April 1

Japan releases its Tankan index and manufacturing PMI. China also reports latest manufacturing and non-manufacturing data.

Euro area reports manufacturing PMI for March, plus jobless rate numbers for February.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. nonfarm payrolls report. Consensus is for 207,000 net job gains, which would be down from February's gain of 242,000. The unemployment rate is forecast to hold steady at 4.9 per cent, according to consensus estimates. Average hourly earnings are expected to rise 0.2 per cent after contracting 0.1 per cent in February.

(930 a.m. ET) RBC manufacturing PMI for Canada.

(945 a.m. ET) U.S. Markit manufacturing PMI for March.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. manufacturing ISM. The PMI component is expected to come in at 50.4.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. construction spending for February. Consensus is for a rise of 0.1 per cent.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. University of Michigan consumer sentiment. The consensus is for a reading of 90.5.

Global and Canadian auto sales tentatively scheduled for be released.
