On Thursday, North American markets plunged, following similar moves by their overseas counterparts, as increasing worries about the global economy and the ability of central banks to respond took a toll on investors.
At the open, the S&P/TSX composite index tumbled 376.24 points to 11,578.76 while the TSX Venture Exchange lost 75.76 points to 1,628.01.
