Royce Virgil Bear is charged with manslaughter in the death of the 24-year-old alleged victim.
Police have said they found a seriously injured male on the Shoal Lake First Nation last December.
The 28-year-old suspect who is a resident of Shoal Lake has been released on a $500 bond.
A trial date has not been set.
