December was a busy month for dividend increases, as five companies in the model Yield Hog Dividend Growth Portfolio raised their payouts.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM) hiked its dividend by 10.3 per cent, Royal Bank (RY) by 6 per cent, Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD) 2.9 per cent, Bank of Montreal (BMO) 2.5 per cent and Enbridge Inc. (ENB) 3 per cent.

The portfolio posted an advance of about 0.2 per cent for the month, finishing December at $215,882.38. That represents a gain of 115.9 per cent since inception on Oct. 1, 2017, when the portfolio started with $100,000 of virtual cash.

The portfolio’s yield at Dec. 31 was 4 per cent.
