Winnebago Industries Inc. (STAR)

WGO-N

Pop quiz! Shares of Winnebago Industries rose after the maker of RVs, trailers and boats: a) unveiled the Trumpmobile, a lavish motorhome with bulletproof glass, a mini McDonald’s and a gold-plated toilet; b) won first place in the inaugural Motorhome Madness 500 at Daytona; c) reported fourth-quarter revenue and earnings that topped Wall Street estimates, driven by price increases and a favourable product mix. Answer: c.

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. (STAR)

HPS-A-T

Bad idea: Getting too close to an electrical transformer. Good idea: Investing in electrical transformer maker Hammond Power Solutions. Shares of the Guelph, Ont., company hit a record high after it posted strong third-quarter results, boosted by demand from data centres and miners. With the stock soaring more than 800 per cent in the past three years, investors are feeling a powerful surge of happiness.

Beyond Meat Inc. (STAR)

BYND-Q

Consumers may have lost their appetites for plant-based burgers and sausages, but investors are suddenly devouring Beyond Meat’s shares. After plunging 97 per cent from its 2019 IPO, the faux-meat maker sizzled this week after it was added to the Roundhill Meme Stock ETF, joining Krispy Kreme Inc., Plug Power Inc. and other downtrodden stocks targeted by short-term traders. Maybe it’s time to change the company’s name to Beyond Meme?

Dye & Durham Ltd. (DOG)

DND-T

Dye & Durham investors are dying alright. Shares of the real estate software firm sank 17 per cent on Thursday after CIBC Capital Markets decided not to lead the company’s sale process, just days after signing on as an adviser. That came on top of Monday’s drop, when ex-CEO Matt Proud pulled his $10.25-a-share takeover offer. I’m sure everything will work out just fine.

Carpenter Technology Corp. (STAR)

CRS-N

With a name like Carpenter Technology, you might think the company makes AI-powered tape measures or smart screwdrivers – you know, technology for carpenters. Nope. Founded in 1889 by metallurgist James Carpenter, the company produces specialty alloys for industries including aerospace, defence and transportation. Still, it nailed its quarterly results as earnings hammered expectations, sending the stock to a record high.
