An announcement from Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. Class A ( (TSE:BAM) ) is now available.

On July 22, 2026, Brookfield announced an agreement to acquire Aypa Power, North America’s largest standalone battery storage developer, from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners in a deal valuing the business at about $7 billion in enterprise value. Aypa brings approximately 6.5 GW of operating, under-construction and contracted battery storage capacity, a development pipeline exceeding 20 GW, and a 200-person team, with assets concentrated in constrained U.S. and Canadian power markets.

Under the terms, Brookfield will take over Aypa’s operating, under-construction and contracted projects as well as its development platform, gaining a major foothold in the battery energy storage systems market. The portfolio’s 95% contracted, long-term agreements with investment-grade customers offer strong cash flow visibility, while Brookfield plans to leverage its capital, development expertise and supplier relationships to accelerate Aypa’s growth, bolstering its integrated energy solutions offering and strengthening its position in the global energy transition; the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Spark’s Take on BAM Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, BAM is a Outperform.

The score is driven primarily by strong underlying financial performance (high profitability, strong cash generation, attractive ROE) and a supportive earnings call emphasizing growth and fundraising momentum. This is tempered by a more mixed technical picture (below longer-term moving averages) and a relatively high P/E, with added caution from increased leverage and noted credit/margin headwinds.
