Banco Santander ( (ES:SAN) ) has provided an announcement.

Banco Santander has reported that, as of 29 May 2026, its issued share capital consisted of 14,689,319,502 ordinary shares with a nominal value of EUR 0.50 each, of which 294,976,549 shares were held in treasury and therefore do not carry voting rights. As a result, the total number of voting rights in the bank stands at 14,394,342,953, a figure that shareholders must use as the reference denominator when assessing whether their holdings trigger disclosure obligations under the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s transparency rules.

This technical update refines the bank’s share and voting rights structure for regulatory purposes, ensuring the market has an accurate baseline for monitoring significant shareholdings and changes in ownership. While it does not alter Banco Santander’s operations or strategy, it improves governance transparency for investors, supports compliance with disclosure requirements, and may influence how institutional shareholders manage and report their stakes in the group.
