Brookfield Wealth Solutions ( (TSE:BNT) ) has provided an update.
Brookfield Wealth Solutions has completed its £2.4 billion acquisition of U.K.-based Just Group, a leading provider in the pension risk transfer and individual annuity markets that manages £30 billion in pension savings for more than 700,000 customers. The deal materially expands Brookfield Wealth Solutions’ presence in the U.K. retirement sector, lifts its global insurance assets under management to about $180 billion and positions Just to capture rising pension risk transfer volumes, supported by Brookfield’s permanent capital, investment capabilities and the appointment of former Legal & General CEO Sir Nigel Wilson as Just’s independent chair.
Brookfield Wealth Solutions’ move deepens its exposure to the high-growth U.K. pension risk transfer market, where annual transfers of corporate pension liabilities to insurers are projected in the tens of billions of pounds, reinforcing its strategic push into liability-driven retirement products. Regulatory approvals from the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority underscore the transaction’s importance for the U.K. insurance landscape, while signaling greater consolidation and scale advantages for Brookfield Wealth Solutions and its policyholder base as competition intensifies in the annuity and de-risking segments.
