Truth Social clarifies merger plans amid regulatory scrutiny

Truth Social ( (DJT) ) has issued an update.

On August 5, 2026, Trump Media & Technology Group moved to clarify that it only endorses statements attributed directly to interim CEO Kevin McGurn in a Financial Times profile and does not adopt the publication’s wider characterizations or conclusions. The company also outlined the regulatory process around its planned $6bn merger with nuclear-fusion specialist TAE Technologies, noting that it will file a Form S-4 with the SEC and that shareholders of both companies will receive proxy and consent materials once the registration statement is effective.

The disclosure underscores growing scrutiny of TMTG’s efforts to monetize Truth Social, including a newly launched premium Truth API data feed that sells high-speed access to posts from influential MAGA-aligned accounts to high-frequency traders and other clients. With TMTG’s shares volatile, losses driven largely by crypto asset revaluations, and its merger with TAE expected to reshape governance and capital deployment, investors face both heightened regulatory attention and strategic uncertainty as the group seeks to transition from a politically driven platform into a broader media and technology enterprise.

Spark’s Take on DJT Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, DJT is a Neutral.

The score is held back primarily by extremely weak profitability and large losses alongside balance-sheet and financing risk, despite improving TTM cash flow. Offsetting this, technical momentum is positive in the near term, and corporate developments (legal settlement and new Truth API product) are modest positives. Valuation support is limited due to losses and the lack of a dividend.
