Consolidated Edison ( (ED) ) has provided an update.
On June 1, 2026, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. entered into an underwriting agreement with a syndicate led by J.P. Morgan Securities, Mizuho Securities USA, PNC Capital Markets and Wells Fargo Securities to issue two new series of registered debentures. The utility is selling $450 million of 5.15% Debentures due 2036 and $850 million of 5.875% Debentures due 2056 under an existing shelf registration, bolstering its long-term funding profile and supporting capital needs tied to its regulated energy networks.
The deal underscores Consolidated Edison’s continued access to the investment-grade debt markets at scale, which is critical for financing large, long-lived utility assets and grid modernization. By locking in fixed-rate funding across both medium- and ultra-long maturities, the company adds balance-sheet flexibility and cost visibility that are important for regulators, investors and customers in a capital-intensive sector.
The most recent analyst rating on (ED) stock is a Hold

Spark’s Take on ED Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, ED is a Neutral.
The score is driven primarily by steady (but not high-growth) financial performance offset by leverage and historically uneven free cash flow. Valuation is supportive with a low P/E and solid dividend yield, while technicals are mixed with negative MACD and the price below the 50-day average. Recent financing actions modestly improve liquidity and balance-sheet flexibility.
