An announcement from Freeport-McMoRan ( (FCX) ) is now available.

On April 23, 2026, Freeport-McMoRan reported strong first-quarter 2026 results, with net income attributable to common stock of $881 million, or $0.61 per share, and adjusted net income of $830 million, or $0.57, as revenues, operating income and cash flows all rose year over year. Consolidated sales of 657 million pounds of copper, 121 thousand ounces of gold and 24 million pounds of molybdenum exceeded earlier estimates, while average unit net cash costs of $1.91 per pound of copper were better than January guidance, supporting operating cash flows of $1.5 billion and a solid balance sheet with net debt of $2.4 billion excluding Indonesia downstream facilities.

Operationally, Freeport began the phased ramp-up of the Grasberg Block Cave underground mine in March 2026 and entered a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian government for a life-of-resource extension of PT Freeport Indonesia’s operating rights in the Grasberg minerals district. The company advanced organic copper growth projects, including filing an environmental impact statement for a potential major expansion at El Abra in Chile and progressing innovative leaching technologies and brownfield expansions in Arizona, while continuing significant capital spending and modest share repurchases, reinforcing its long-term growth and industry leadership in copper despite recent constraints at its Indonesian operations.

The most recent analyst rating on (FCX) stock is a Buy with a $77.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Freeport-McMoRan stock, see the FCX Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on FCX Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, FCX is a Outperform.

FCX scores well on financial resilience (very low leverage and solid cash generation) and strong technical momentum (price above key moving averages with positive MACD). The main drag is valuation (high P/E with a modest yield), while the earnings call and recent Grasberg-rights MOU add supportive medium-term upside but with execution and regulatory follow-through risks.
