Hitachi,Ltd. ( (JP:6501) ) has issued an announcement.
Hitachi, Ltd. will introduce a new Restricted Stock Unit program for employees and roll out a global Employee Stock Purchase Plan from fiscal 2026 as part of its “Inspire 2027” human capital strategy. By structurally linking employee performance, ownership and long-term value creation, the company aims to deepen engagement and strengthen its position as an employer of choice.
The RSU program will cover more than 1,800 leaders across over 40 countries, aligning them more closely with shareholder interests and supporting retention of top talent. In parallel, the ESPP is to reach up to 150,000 employees by fiscal 2027 and expand to more than 50 countries, giving staff wider access to equity and reinforcing a shared stake in Hitachi’s sustainable growth.
To support the global RSU rollout, Hitachi will use trust-based structures in partnership with Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, employing Board Incentive Plan and Employee Stock Ownership Plan trusts. These trusts will acquire company shares in advance, with all related costs borne by Hitachi and its subsidiaries, allowing eligible directors and employees to receive stock-linked compensation without personal expense.
