Metlife ( (MET) ) has provided an update.

MetLife disclosed preliminary, unaudited figures for variable investment income for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, estimating pre-tax income of approximately $475 million to $525 million. This range is set against the company’s full-year 2026 guidance of about $1.6 billion in pre-tax variable investment income, which includes returns from private equity, real estate and other funds, as well as prepayment fees.

The company emphasized that these results are based on incomplete financial closing procedures, may differ materially from the final reported numbers, and are not a substitute for its forthcoming U.S. GAAP financial statements. MetLife cautioned investors against drawing broad conclusions from the preliminary data ahead of the scheduled May 6, 2026 earnings release, underscoring the inherent uncertainty and potential variability in its investment-driven income streams.

The most recent analyst rating on (MET) stock is a Buy with a $89.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Metlife stock, see the MET Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on MET Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, MET is a Neutral.

The score is held back primarily by deteriorating cash-flow performance in 2025 and a clearly bearish technical trend (price below key moving averages with weak momentum). Offsetting these are a reasonable valuation with a ~3.1% dividend yield and a generally positive earnings-call outlook featuring double-digit adjusted EPS growth guidance and continued capital returns, though tempered by expected 2026 corporate headwinds and variable investment income softness.
