Tipranks - Tue Jul 7, 10:30AM CDT

4th of July Sale - 70% Off

ArcelorMittal ( (MT) ) just unveiled an update.

On 6 July 2026, ArcelorMittal announced that Geert Van Poelvoorde, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe and member of the Group Management Committee, will retire from his executive role at the end of July. He will remain closely involved with the business by becoming Chairman of the Board of ArcelorMittal Europe Steel, ensuring ongoing strategic oversight of the European segment.

Van Poelvoorde’s 37-year career at the company has spanned multiple senior operational and leadership positions and included a seven-year tenure as President of Eurofer, underscoring his influence on European steel policy. Under his leadership, ArcelorMittal Europe accelerated its transition toward safer, cleaner and more digital steelmaking, introduced dynamic pricing, and launched green steel certificates, positioning the group to benefit from new trade and carbon regimes such as TRQ and CBAM and supporting a brighter outlook for European steelmakers.

Spark’s Take on MT Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, MT is a Neutral.

The score is anchored by solid financial resilience (notably a conservative balance sheet) but held back by modest current-cycle profitability and thin free cash flow conversion. The latest earnings call meaningfully improves the outlook with guidance for Q2 improvement and a credible 2026 EBITDA uplift pipeline, while technicals and valuation are mixed and do not provide strong near-term support.
