Petroleo Brasileiro SA- Petrobras ( (PBR) ) has provided an announcement.

On June 19, 2026, Petrobras’ board approved a final investment decision for the RPBC Biorefining project, authorizing about US$1.2 billion to build a dedicated plant for bio-jet fuel and renewable diesel at the Presidente Bernardes Refinery in Cubatão. The facility, part of the 2026–2030 business plan and now in Petrobras’ base implementation portfolio, is expected to start construction by late 2026 and reach up to 15,000 barrels per day of renewable fuels capacity, with startup slated for 2030.

The project strengthens Petrobras’ positioning in sustainable fuels by supporting a “just energy transition” in Brazil and aligning with global aviation’s CORSIA regime and Brazil’s Future Fuel Law. This move signals a strategic shift within the company’s refining portfolio toward low-carbon products, with potential long-term implications for aviation fuel supply, regulatory compliance and investors focused on decarbonization trends.
