In its 2025 Sustainability Report covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, Petrobras detailed progress on integrating environmental, social and governance criteria into its 2026–2030 business plan and 2050 strategic vision. The company reported a 36% reduction in absolute operational CO₂ emissions versus 2015, a 65% drop in direct methane intensity, and more than 80 million tons of CO₂ reinjected in pre-salt carbon capture and storage projects, reinforcing its long-term Net Zero by 2050 and Near Zero Methane by 2030 ambitions.
Petrobras highlighted its role in Brazil’s economic development in 2025, allocating over BRL 195 billion to its supply chain and paying BRL 277.6 billion in taxes and government participations while maintaining a market-based pricing policy to balance competitiveness and domestic volatility. The report also emphasized expanded socio-environmental investments, completion of biodiversity action plans, a sharp reduction in spill volumes, and continued focus on safety after two fatalities, underscoring both the company’s ESG advances and ongoing challenges for workers, communities, and other stakeholders.
