An announcement from Petroleo Brasileiro SA- Petrobras ( (PBR) ) is now available.

On June 23, 2026, Petrobras announced it had signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding with Mexico’s state oil company PEMEX to pursue strategic and technical cooperation across the hydrocarbons industry. The accord targets joint assessment of exploration and production opportunities, revitalization of mature fields and deepwater projects, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico, along with sharing regulatory and institutional experience.

The companies will also explore collaboration in refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, gas processing, energy efficiency and lower-carbon-intensity fuels, including carbon capture and emissions reduction initiatives. While the MoU is nonbinding and does not create a formal partnership or investment commitment, it signals Petrobras’s intent to leverage its offshore know-how, broaden regional industrial ties and potentially open future projects subject to feasibility reviews and corporate approvals, with any material developments to be disclosed to the market.
