An announcement from POSCO ( (PKX) ) is now available.

POSCO Holdings reported provisional consolidated results for the second quarter of 2026 on July 30, showing broad-based earnings recovery across its steel, rechargeable battery materials and infrastructure segments. Group revenue rose to KRW 19.26 trillion, up 7.7% quarter-on-quarter and 9.7% year-on-year, while operating profit climbed to KRW 0.82 trillion, reflecting improved margins and stronger contributions from core subsidiaries.

Net profit surged to KRW 0.76 trillion, a sharp rebound from KRW 0.08 trillion a year earlier, aided in part by gains from the divestment of PZSS and QPSS and despite impairment losses tied to the closure of 2FINEX and related operations. The infrastructure and steel businesses delivered solid profit growth, while the rechargeable battery materials division swung back to operating profitability, underscoring POSCO’s diversified earnings base and strategic focus on battery supply chains.

POSCO also detailed its first-half 2026 capital expenditure of KRW 3.7 trillion on a consolidated basis and noted a modest increase in net debt and net debt ratio, suggesting continued aggressive investment alongside a strengthening financial performance. In parallel, the group highlighted progress on its “Safe Workplace” initiative, including expanded contractor safety programs, enhanced training and a group-wide safety assessment system, indicating a push to align operational risk management and workplace safety with its broader ESG strategy.

Spark’s Take on PKX Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, PKX is a Neutral.

The score is held down primarily by weak financial performance (thin margins, low ROE, and negative free cash flow) and bearish technicals (price below major DMAs with negative MACD and very weak RSI/Stoch). Valuation is also a headwind due to the high P/E, partially tempered by a moderate dividend yield.
