Rogers to Acquire Remaining MLSE Stake, Becoming 100% Owner

Tipranks - Tue Jul 7, 9:58AM CDT

4th of July Sale - 70% Off

Rogers Communication ( ($TSE:RCI.B) ) has provided an announcement.

Rogers Communications Inc. announced on July 6, 2026 that it has signed an agreement to acquire the remaining 25% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) from Kilmer Sports Inc. for C$4.35 billion, moving from majority to full ownership of the Toronto-based sports and entertainment group. The deal, which is subject to league approvals and expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, is intended to deepen Rogers’ integration of its connectivity, media and sports assets and bolster its competitive position in Canada’s crowded telecom and media markets.

The company highlighted plans to leverage full ownership of MLSE to invest further in championship-level teams, enhance fan experiences, and create more bundled offers and rewards for Rogers customers, including expanded access to tickets and premium events. Rogers said MLSE remains a highly appreciating asset and that consolidating these franchises under one owner should support long-term shareholder value, with the transaction financed from committed liquidity and a planned sale of a minority stake in its combined sports, media and entertainment assets over the coming year.
