Sony Group Corporation reported on April 14, 2026 the results of its share repurchase and treasury stock disposition activities for the period from March 1 to March 31, 2026. Under a board-approved program launched May 14, 2025 and concluded October 27, 2025, it had bought back 63,156,800 shares for ¥249,999,876,533, fully utilizing the ¥250 billion cap by that time.
A separate repurchase program, originally authorized on November 11, 2025 and later expanded on February 5 and February 26, 2026 to a ceiling of 90 million shares and ¥250 billion, saw Sony acquire 33,585,600 shares in March 2026 alone. By March 31, 2026, cumulative purchases under that facility totaled 70,793,900 shares for ¥249,999,854,281, achieving 100% of the monetary limit and 78.66% of the share volume target before concluding on March 24, 2026.
During the same March reporting period, Sony disposed of 707,300 treasury shares through the exercise of stock acquisition rights and a further 80 shares sold in response to fractional-share sale requests, with total book value of ¥2,197,143,501. As of March 31, 2026, Sony had 242,143,391 shares held in treasury out of 6,149,810,645 shares issued, underscoring the scale of its buyback-driven capital allocation over the preceding months.
