United Micro ( (UMC) ) just unveiled an announcement.

On June 3, 2026, United Microelectronics Corporation’s board approved the issuance of two zero-coupon unsecured convertible bond offerings, signaling a sizable capital raise to support capacity expansion. The first issue was set at up to NT$12 billion, to be sold via book building at no less than 101% of par, while the second issue was capped at NT$4 billion, to be placed through competitive auction at not less than par value.

Both five-year bonds are intended to fund purchases of machinery and equipment, underscoring the foundry’s push to invest in production infrastructure amid ongoing demand for semiconductor manufacturing. Conversion terms, investor put and issuer call features, and other detailed conditions will be finalized after regulatory approval, with the chairman authorized to adjust issuance parameters in line with market conditions and legal requirements.

Spark’s Take on UMC Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, UMC is a Outperform.

Score is driven primarily by solid financial stability and profitability supported by a low-leverage balance sheet, plus a reasonable valuation (P/E ~11 and ~2.17% yield). These positives are tempered by uneven free-cash-flow conversion and technically overbought conditions (RSI/Stoch ~91), which raise near-term risk despite the strong uptrend.
