Wendy’s ( (WEN) ) has issued an announcement.
On June 23, 2026, Wendy’s announced that industry veteran Steve Cirulis will become Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, succeeding Ken Cook, who has served as CFO since 2024 and will remain in an advisory role through July to ensure a smooth transition. The Board had formally approved the move on June 19, 2026, and also decided that Cook’s employment would end without cause on July 31, 2026, entitling him to enhanced severance in recognition of his prior service as interim CEO.
Cirulis brings nearly three decades of experience across major restaurant and retail brands, including leading finance and strategy at Potbelly Sandwich Works, where he worked with current Wendy’s CEO Bob Wright on a turnaround marked by sharp gains in share price, average unit volumes, and margins. His compensation package includes a $675,000 base salary, performance-based annual bonus eligibility, and a mix of performance share units, restricted stock units, and options under Wendy’s long-term incentive plans, underscoring the Board’s intent to align his incentives with the company’s ongoing turnaround efforts and value creation for franchisees, employees, and shareholders.

Spark’s Take on WEN Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, WEN is a Neutral.
The score is held back primarily by high leverage and weak recent revenue/traffic trends, despite still-solid margins and free cash flow generation. Valuation is supportive (low P/E and high yield), and technicals show improving near-term momentum, but the latest guidance and commentary point to continued near-term pressure in the U.S. with leverage remaining elevated.
