The Academy Awards are upon us, and more than 40 films in 24 categories are vying for Hollywood’s most coveted prize. From One Battle After Another to Hamnet, and Sinners to Sentimental Value, this year’s nominations span multiple genres.
But how well do you know the films nominated at this year’s ceremony? Test your knowledge with our quiz below.

a. It Was Just an Accident. The French film received two nominations: best international feature and best screenplay.
b. Frankenstein. Many parts of the film were shot in Toronto, and the bulk of the movie’s nominees are Canadian. “My goal has always been to sustain, showcase and elevate every Canadian head-of-department, talent and partnership I feel would benefit from trust, faith and ambitious madness,” director Guillermo del Toro told The Globe.
c. Michael B. Jordan is nominated for best actor for his portrayal of identical twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners. 2025 was the year for dual roles, with Mia Goth playing two characters in Frankenstein and Robert Pattinson playing clones in Mickey 17.
c. 16. Ryan Coogler’s horror film broke the previous record of 14, previously held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land.
b. F1. The film is a completely original screenplay, taking inspiration from Formula 1 races. F1 driver Lewis Hamilton was also a producer on the film.
d. Sinners. If Göransson were to win this year, it’ll be his third award in the category in eight years, after winning for the first Black Panther film and Oppenheimer.
a. Yorgos Lanthimos. The Greek director and Stone have collaborated four times. Their previous collaborations were The Favourite (2018), Poor Things (2023) and Kinds of Kindness (2024).
d. Timothée Chalamet. At 30, Chalamet became the youngest person nominated for both acting and producing in the same year for Marty Supreme.
c. Sean Penn. The 65-year-old has won best actor twice, for Mystic River and Milk. Benicio del Toro and Leonardo DiCaprio have both won one acting Oscar. This is Teyana Taylor’s first Oscar nomination.
c. KPop Demon Hunters. Its song Golden has become a worldwide hit, reaching the top of the charts in multiple countries. The animated movie is nominated for best original song and best animated film.
